History

1917

Thirty five houses were built by the Scottish War Veteran’s Garden City Houses Association. This was where the first bowling green was (Kitchener Crescent).

1930

Land was set aside for a bowling green and 3 tennis courts each with a pavillion by the Wemyss Estate.

1932

The new bowling green was officially opened in May by Mr Andrew H. Hamilton secratary of the Scottish Bowling Association (cost of construction £520-14-02). There were around 45-50 members at this time.

1968

The green and tennis courts were taken over by the Council from the estate.

1970

Electricity was installed and a small kitchen added.

1983

A few youths had joined the first Youth Championship and the winner was Linda Johnson.

1996

The first extension was added the club which now has a gathering space, better kitchen as well as a ladies / disabled toilet.

2009

The second extension to the club was completed and now spectators could view games from inside the clubhouse.

2012

A new locker room extension was completed.

Successes

1963

  • Lex Lyle went to the Scottish finals at Queens Park to represent East Lothian in the singles.

1996

  • Vera Fullard won the E.L.L.B.A. singles (Jean McNeil Memorial Rose Bowl).

1999

  • Gents won E.L senior league div 1 (Jock Brodie Trophy)
  • E.L.B.A. seniors rink
  • John Mc Donald seniors trophy.

2006

  • Scottish Youth Triples Qualifiers:
     Jack Ferguson, Daniel Peart and Ross Parkin
  • Scottish Pairs Qualifiers:
     Mary Talbot and Reva Campbell
